>>> At Guantanamo, detainees are in a hotly debated legal limbo. The Defense Department has been given the power to hold extra-Constitutional legal proceedings to "officially" declare the captured men "enemy combatants" (rather than prisoners of war, who have certain rights under international and US law, or some other designation). These tribunals are strictly military procedures, not having to do with US law. Their purpose is solely to decide if someone is an enemy combatant. Once that designation has been made, another military body, an Administrative Review Board, determines annually whether they should stay imprisoned.

The Combatant Status Review Tribunal proceedings for fourteen "high-value detainees" (allegedly the most important and dangerous terrorists) took place in early 2007. In a highly surprising move, the Pentagon posted the audio and transcripts of these shadowy Star Chamber proceedings that year. In a less surprising move, they pulled them offline at the beginning of 2009, and they've been missing since. Here they are:
